Questions we hear most

Do you take my insurance?

We file claims for plans that cover orthodontics, and we check your benefits before your first visit. The plan decides what it pays. How fees work lists the plan types.

What if I don't have insurance?

Then you pay the fee in your written estimate. A payment plan is one way to spread it out, and we give you an itemized receipt.

Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

We are not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP.

Will it hurt?

Teeth can feel sore for a few days after braces go on, after some adjustments and when you start a new aligner tray. Most people manage with soft food. You can ask for a break at any point in a visit.

How often do I need X-rays?

When the orthodontist needs them to plan or check your treatment. We tell you why before we take any.

Do I still see my regular dentist?

Yes. We only do orthodontics. Keep your cleanings and fillings with your own dentist.

Do you treat teens or children?

Our visits are planned around adults and college-age patients. If you're asking for a younger family member, call us and we'll say what we can do.

What counts as an emergency?

Trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling that spreads to your face, eye or neck, or bleeding that won't stop: go to an emergency room or call 911. A loose bracket or a poking wire isn't an emergency, but call us.

Do you offer sedation?

No. Orthodontic visits don't use it here.

Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes, every time. You get it at your first visit, in writing, before any treatment.

Do you speak Spanish?

Dr. Arteaga speaks Spanish with patients who prefer it. Ask for her when you book.

How do I change or cancel a visit?

Call either office or reply to your reminder. Please tell us as early as you can so another patient can have the time.
