Clear aligners
Clear aligners are removable plastic trays made from a scan of your teeth. You swap to a new tray on a schedule, and the orthodontist checks your progress at each visit. They suit people who will wear them most of the day.
What happens
Aligner treatment often runs from about a year to two years.
- 01
Step 1: Estimate and scan
The orthodontist looks at your teeth and bite, scans them and gives you the fee in writing.
- 02
Step 2: Your first trays
You get a set of trays, a case and instructions. We show you how to put them in and take them out.
- 03
Step 3: Check-in visits
Every several weeks we check that the trays fit and your teeth are moving as planned.
- 04
Step 4: Finishing
When the last tray is done you get retainers, and the orthodontist says how to wear them.
It depends on your teeth and on how many hours a day you wear the trays.
Comfort, choices and care
Comfort
Each new tray feels tight for a day or two. You take them out to eat and to brush, so food rules are simpler than with braces.
If you wait
Teeth that are out of line stay that way, and crowded teeth are harder to clean. Aligners aren't right for every bite; the orthodontist will tell you if braces would do the job better.
Risks and after-care
Trays only work if they're worn most of the day. They can be lost or cracked, and a replacement can add time and cost. Clean them and your teeth after meals.
How it's billed
The fee is in your written estimate before treatment. With insurance, we file claims for plans that cover orthodontics; paying yourself or with a payment plan, you get an itemized receipt. No price is on this website.

Questions about clear aligners
How many hours a day do I wear them?
The orthodontist will give you a number for your plan, and it is most of the day. Trays only come out to eat and brush.
Can I drink coffee with them in?
Take them out for anything but water. Coffee and tea can stain a tray.
What if I lose a tray?
Call us right away. We'll say whether to go back to your last tray or order a new one.
Are aligners right for me?
Not always. The orthodontist looks at your bite and says whether aligners, braces or neither fit your teeth.
